What to Expect

Clarity Acupuncture Exam and Consultation Room

Your first appointment will last between 90 minutes to 2 hours, consisting of an extensive intake and treatment.  Subsequent appointments will be 45 minutes- one hour.  Relief may be immediate.  Generally patients feel energized and relaxed after treatment.  It is important to take it easy for the rest of the day and drink lots of water.

The frequency of visits depends on the severity of your condition.  After 4 to 6 treatments is a good time to evaluate overall progress. Generally its good to go to once-twice a month at this point.

We gladly accept Aetna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Johns Hopkins, and United Healthcare insurance.  We can check your individual policy for you to determine your eligibility.  For other insurances not yet accepted by me, you may request a receipt of services that you then submit for reimbursement.

The first 15-20 minutes are a consutlation where we talk about your health and wellness issues. Then you get on the treatment table and I’ll take your pulses to confirm my treatment plan. Next you’ll get the needles inserted and will rest on the table for 15-30 minutes. Then I’ll remove the needles and you’ll be on your way!

Shiatsu is a gentle massage of the acupressure points. It is very relaxing and realigns the energy througout the meridians in the body. The massage includes a short intake and then the massage itself is 45 minutes.
